Pharmacist ( Part time)

Job Summary

The Pharmacist is responsible for the oversight of on-site staff (without management responsibilities) as well as the pharmacy’s permit application and subsequent renewals. The Pharmacist assumes full legal responsibility for the entire operation of the MCHC pharmacy in a manner that legally complies with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provides oversight of the Pharmacy staff in transferring prescriptions, handling incoming physician calls, logging data into the computer, and conducting drug utilization review.
  • Takes responsibility for accurate dispensing of products from the Pharmacy.
  • Ensures that the highest quality of health care is provided to each individual visiting the pharmacy.
  • Ensures operational compliance with the 340b program.
  • Ensures registration and licensure with State, Federal, and other regulatory bodies and third-party payers.
  • Oversees and administers all CQI procedures within the pharmacy in dispensing pharmaceutical products.
  • Works on rotation with the other Pharmacist to staff the Saturday clinic and is responsible to be in the pharmacy at all times when the pharmacy is open.
  • Collaborates closely with the Pharmacy Supervisor to ensure any changes to policies and procedures, as well as all QI/QA updates and laws and regulations are being followed by everyone working in the pharmacy.
  • Acts as liaison with the MCHC medical providers and support staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education or Formal Training (Licenses/Certifications)

  • RPH or Pharm D
  • Active Utah Certification
  • Current CPR certification required, along with any required maintenance
  • Current personal immunization records, along with any required maintenance
  • Must be available to work between 15–20 hours per week

Experience

  • Exemplary verbal communication and customer service skills
  • Technical knowledge and computer skills (data entry, as well as good typing and 10-key skills) with strong quantitative abilities
  • Experience with dispensing software
  • Experience with employee management and workflow management

Language

  • Bilingual: English/Spanish, a plus

Additional Requirements

  • Ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all MCHC records, PII, and PHI (created, received, maintained, or transmitted)
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Eligible to bill Medicaid and Medicare
  • Minimal travel as required

Working Environment and Physical Activities

This job is performed in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses equipment related to their specialty (radiography equipment, computers, etc.), as well as standard office equipment such as phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc.

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close, distance, and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
