What You Will Need
- Five year bachelor of science degree in pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Specialist in one or more areas of expertise within the pharmacy such as pharmacy software maintenance, hardware upkeep, training of pharmacy personnel or communication with outside technical departments (TIS).
- Preferred advanced training in their area of specialty.
What You Will Do
- Reviews, prepares and dispenses medication orders per physician order or prescription according to established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Ensures safe, appropriate, cost effective medication therapies for patients according to established policies, procedures and protocols.
- Contributes to the quality and effective operation of the department.
- Provides clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners.
- Suggests appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic alternatives to physicians, as needed.
- Provides drug information and counseling to patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in the training, education, precepting, and evaluation of pharmacy students and/or residents as assigned.
- Performs work direction to pharmacy support personnel, verifies the daily activities of pharmacy technicians.
Physical/Mental
- Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., preparing IV admixtures, use of a computer keyboard).
- Lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs.), including boxes, equipment, unit dose-cassettes, and IV solutions.
- Sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time (4-8 hours) is often necessary.
- Must be able to physically operate the equipment for the job.
