Pharmacist - Inpatient - Days - PRN
About the role
The Pharmacist ensures the overall integrity, safety, rationality, and effectiveness of the drug use control process for all patients in the assigned geographic or specialty area, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
Responsibilities
- Monitoring, screening, and verifying all drug-related orders for proper dosage, route, dosage form, and administration schedule.
- Expediting the preparation and dispensing of all dosage forms by pharmacy personnel.
- Resolving drug therapy problems, clarifying and correcting problematic drug orders, and designating pharmacy technicians to perform special assignments.
- Counseling patients on the safe and proper use of their medications.
- Resolving equipment and operational problems.
Requirements
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements For Hire: Current licensure with the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy required or obtained within the first 90 days of employment.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements For Continued Employment: Current licensure with the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy.
Experience
Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of pharmacy practice experience in a similar setting. Previous experience with state-of-the-art drug distribution and clinical service methods and drug information sources and retrieval and communication methods is preferred.
Education/Training
- Education/TRAINING REQUIRED: Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited academic program.
- Education/TRAINING PREFERRED: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an accredited academic program.
Independent Action(s)
- Maintaining the integrity, safety, rationality, and effectiveness of the drug use control process.
- Making decisions related to drug-related orders and patient counseling.
Additional Position Requirements
- Availability to work evenings, nights, and weekends.
- Age-Specific Groups Served: All.
- Physical Requirements: Lifting up to 50 lbs., prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, frequent bending, walking (distance), climbing (steps, ladder, other), reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive).
- Mental/Sensory Requirements: Strong recall, reasoning, problem-solving, hearing, speaking clearly, writing legibly, reading, logical thinking.
- Emotional Requirements: Fast-paced environment, steady pace, ability to handle multiple priorities, frequent and intense customer interactions, noisy environment, ability to adapt to frequent changes.
Days
This position is open to candidates who are legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
