About the role

Regions Hospital is seeking a highly motivated Inpatient Pharmacist to provide pharmaceutical care and clinical expertise to patients. This position is responsible for providing pharmacy services, including inpatient dispensing and IV preparation, working in a decentralized clinical capacity across a diverse patient population.

Pharmacists provide professional pharmaceutical services by verifying orders, dispensing medications and related supplies, monitoring patient medication therapies, providing drug information to healthcare providers, overseeing the work of direct support personnel, conducting patient medication histories, and performing related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Provide inpatient pharmacy services, including dispensing and IV preparation
  • Work in a decentralized clinical capacity across a diverse patient population
  • Verify medication orders and dispense medications and related supplies
  • Monitor patient medication therapies
  • Provide drug information to healthcare providers
  • Oversee the work of direct support personnel
  • Conduct patient medication histories

Requirements

  • Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS Pharmacy degree or Doctor of Pharmacy degree
  • Previous experience in a central inpatient capacity (or comparable role)
  • Currently functioning in a decentralized capacity (comparable role), or completion of a Post-Doctorate Pharmacy Program (e.g., ASHP-accredited PGY1 or PGY2 pharmacy residency), or BPS Board Certification (e.g., Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist)
  • Currently licensed to practice pharmacy in the state of Minnesota

  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
  • Ability to meet and maintain departmental productivity standards
  • Ability to work cooperatively with health-system and pharmacy staff
  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule
  • Ability to set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond quickly to emergency requests
  • Sound professional judgment
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Ability to meet the pharmaceutical care needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric, and specialty patient groups (e.g., psychiatric, oncology, obstetric, medical, surgical, and rehabilitation patients)
  • Ability to direct the work of others or coordinate workflow in the assigned area

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of experience in a central inpatient role including sterile product preparation
  • Post-graduate training and/or BPS Board Certification in area of specialty
