Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops pharmacist Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) where they do not exist; review and update existing SOPs; ensure compliance with established SOPs and staff training where needed.
- Participates in designing, implementing, and evaluating systems, processes, and methods designed to enhance quality, improve service, and enhance cost-effectiveness; drives the company’s payor optimization initiatives through successful open enrollments and dual eligible reviews and transfers.
- Drives and manages the execution of pharmacy-related initiatives to maximize growth and profitability.
- Evaluates ongoing pharmacy operations, rates performance against targets, and drives accountability among assigned teams.
- Reviews business metrics to ensure optimal results; takes action when improvements are required.
- Supports order verification within the computer order processing queue to ensure facility and product accuracy.
- Reviews all batch records and associated documentation verification.
- Ensures safe work environments, enforcing operational discipline and monitoring aseptic behaviors.
- Directs and manages operational practices to ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational policies and procedures; responsible for regulatory reporting, controlled returns, and ensuring the pharmacy is ready for inspections.
- Represents the pharmacy in all state and federal regulatory audits, visits, and communication.
- Conducts an annual review of all Fraud Awareness Policies and Procedures.
- Maintains accurate and timely claims for denial and audits the billing records at least quarterly.
- Ensures Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training is completed for all staff upon hire and then annually.
- Investigates and takes any necessary corrective action regarding all suspicious activity; reports alleged incidents to the Office of the Inspector General.
- Fields clinical questions from all pharmacy staff.
Qualifications
- Valid State Pharmacist License in good standing
- Minimum of (2) years of experience as a pharmacist preferred
- Previous pharmacy management or supervisory experience
- Able to work flexible hours, including weekends as needed
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
