Pharmacist in Charge (PIC)
About the Role
Valley Vital Care Infusion Services is seeking a Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to serve as the site clinical leader for one of our growing network of infusion pharmacy locations. The PIC owns clinical practice and regulatory compliance at a single Valley Vital Care site across its therapy lines — accountable for medication safety, USP and execution, sterile-compounding oversight, clinical quality, and the competency of site pharmacists and technicians. This is a hands-on site clinical leadership role for a pharmacist ready to own charge responsibility in a growth-stage, multi-site infusion environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the site Pharmacist in Charge of record; maintain compliance with state board of pharmacy, DEA, USP and , payer, and accreditation requirements
- Execute enterprise pharmacy policies, procedures, and clinical standards at the site
- Oversee sterile compounding: environment, garbing, technique, documentation, and testing per USP and
- Maintain continuous audit and survey readiness; close site findings within agreed timelines and escalate systemic issues to the Director of Pharmacy
- Own site medication-safety program execution: error and adverse-event capture, review, and corrective action
- Verify orders, compounds, and clinical appropriateness; serve as the site clinical resource to nurses, prescribers, referral sources, and patients on infusion therapy
- Track site clinical-quality metrics and drive them to plan
- Team Leadership & Competency
- Lead, coordinate clinical coverage for, and develop site pharmacists and technicians
- Complete pharmacist and technician competency validation on the enterprise cadence
- Onboard new pharmacists and technicians to the enterprise standard
- Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner closely with the site Clinical Operations Manager (COM) to align clinical practice with operational execution
- Collaborate with Nursing, Intake, and Revenue Cycle on throughput, clean clinical handoffs, and payer readiness before therapy starts
Required Qualifications
- Active Pharmacist license in good standing; PIC designation per state board of pharmacy where applicable; PharmD preferred
- 3–5+ years of clinical pharmacy practice, including charge or PIC responsibility or demonstrated readiness to step into charge
- Strong command of USP and , sterile-compounding operations, and pharmacy regulatory requirements
- Demonstrated team leadership, competency development, and the ability to hold direct accountability conversations
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in infusion pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, acute care therapies, ambulatory infusion, or home infusion
- Prior experience in a growing multi-site pharmacy environment during expansion or integration
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $122,000 – $134,000, commensurate with experience
- Annual Bonus: Target of 8% of base salary, tied to clinical governance, medication safety, standard adherence, and team outcomes
