Responsibilities
- Verify medication orders to ensure safe, accurate, and evidence-based medication therapy for patients across various care settings.
- Partner with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals during clinical rounds to provide medication recommendations, therapeutic consultations, and patient-centered pharmaceutical care.
- Maintain pharmacy inventory through effective purchasing, monitoring, and replenishment processes, including the secure management and documentation of controlled substances in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Provide day-to-day oversight, mentoring, and support to pharmacy technicians while fostering a collaborative, high-performing pharmacy team.
- Promote medication safety initiatives and contribute to quality improvement efforts that enhance patient care and operational excellence.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, accreditation, and organizational policies related to pharmacy practice.
Requirements
- Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, required. Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy, Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Committee (FPGEC) Certification, PhD preferred. Doctorate of Pharmacy.
- Experience: Postgraduate year 1 residency or fellowship OR two years of experience as a registered pharmacist in health system pharmacy, required.
- Licensure/Certification: Current Pharmacy licensure in appropriate state(s) or must be completed within 30 days of start date by either examination or reciprocity, required. Board of Pharmacy Specialties Certification or other applicable certification must be obtained and continuously maintained within 2 years of start date as applicable to the role; excludes PRN team members who may not be eligible to take certification exam, required.
