Job Description

The Pharmacist In Charge (PIC) oversees all aspects of the retail pharmacy, with their main role being pharmacy employee supervision, prescription processing, and patient interaction/communication. Additional duties include preparing the pharmacy for business, scheduling employees, finding replacements, approving vacations and coverage, handling administrative and bookkeeping tasks, managing inventory, and performing data entry.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintains records of all transactions of the pharmacy necessary to ensure accurate control over, and accountability for, all drugs as required by applicable state and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
• Ensures legal operation and compliance of the pharmacy, including meeting all inspection and other requirements of state and federal laws, rules, and regulations governing pharmacy operations.
• Ensures accuracy of prescription transactions and submits appropriate claims for third-party reimbursement.
• Consults with physicians and nurses regarding pharmaceutical questions; advises physicians on formulary medications and cost-effective and innovative therapies; answers pharmaceutical questions from patients and staff.
• Maintains accurate records of all prescription transactions and submits appropriate claims for third-party reimbursement.
• Maintains close control over all operations at store level.

Experience and/or Requirements

• Registered and licensed with State Board of Pharmacy required.
• Experience as a Pharmacist in a retail environment required (5 years minimum preferred).
• PharmD or BS in Pharmacy required.
• Immunization Certification is required.
• Compounding experience or certification is a plus.
• Prioritizes patient care.
• Outstanding organizational skills.
• Experience with Pioneer pharmacy system is a plus.
