Pharmacist in Charge
Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise the pharmacy staff, including pharmacists, technicians, and support personnel
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing the practice of pharmacy
- Ensure accurate dispensing of medications and adherence to proper procedures while overseeing compounding and labeling processes
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to maintain compliance with state and federal regulations
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient care and medication therapy management
- Provide drug information to healthcare professionals and patients
- Conduct medication utilization reviews to identify opportunities for improvement
- Maintain aseptic technique in sterile compounding areas
- Provide clinical support in acute care settings such as the emergency room (ER) and intensive care unit (ICU)
- Demonstrate proficiency in medical terminology and patient service
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
- Participate in medical management activities, including formulary management and medication utilization reviews
- Monitor patient outcomes and make recommendations for therapy adjustments as needed
- Monitor medication inventory levels and order medications as needed
Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree
- Immunization License- a MUST
- Compounding Experience - a MUST
- Prior Authorization experience- a MUST
- Current state pharmacist license in good standing
- Previous experience as a licensed pharmacist
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology, physiology, and drug interactions
- Leadership and management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare professionals and patients
- Attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical compounding and medication therapy management
- Proficiency in medication administration, including IV infusion and pain management
