Pharmacist II
Job Overview
A Pharmacist II optimizes patient safety through medication therapy management, working with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the safe and effective use of medications in our patients. A Pharmacist II accurately compounds sterile and non-sterile products, provides drug information to patients and staff, and is responsible for direct oversight of technician activity while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and all hospital policies. In addition, a Pharmacist II has extensive experience in a specific practice area where they use their expanded knowledge to enhance process and pharmacy service in this area.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy or FPGEC certification and internship hours
- 3+ years of experience as a registered pharmacist
- Active unrestricted New Jersey Pharmacy License
- Preferred: Doctor of Pharmacy or other advanced degree, completion of ASHP accredited PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency, clinical pharmacy experience in area of specialty, BLS certification, ACLS certification, Board of Pharmacy Specialties Certification
Essential Functions
- Reviews, perfects and verifies orders for completeness, accuracy and appropriateness in accordance with pharmaceutical care standards and prescribed policies and procedures.
- Prepares or supervises preparation and accurate dispensing of medication to inpatients and outpatients, including unit dose dispensing, automated dispensing machines (Pyxis), IV admixture, chemotherapy, TPN, investigational drugs, other sterile products, and extemporaneous preparations, in accordance with hospital policy.
- Demonstrates competency in utilizing EPIC for documentation of clinical interventions or other activities as appropriate
- Maintains exceptional customer service and effective communication with providers and nurses to ensure safe and appropriate use of drugs.
- Performs duties including but not limited to medication counseling, therapeutic and formulary substitutions, medication reconciliation, pharmacokinetic monitoring, and renal dose monitoring.
- Adheres to RWJBH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior as well as departmental specific standards of practice

About the Role
The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

$69.44 - $85.84 per hour
