About the role

The Clinical Oncology Pharmacist plays a critical role in specialized patient care and operational excellence. Operating with a high level of independence, they ensure that chemotherapy, hazardous, and non-hazardous medications are prepared and provided in a safe and rational manner according to strict clinical and professional standards. They are responsible for the preparation, dispensing, monitoring, and management of oncology and Multiple Sclerosis (MS) patient care for both inpatients and outpatients while maintaining seamless collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the sterile compounding process, ensuring safe, precise, and error-free preparation of chemotherapy, hazardous, and non-hazardous medications
  • Evaluates critical oncology and MS medication therapies, ensuring patients receive appropriate treatments and supporting medication management
  • Prepares, dispenses, and monitors both the prescribing and overall clinical effectiveness of inpatient and outpatient specialized care
  • Utilizes a high level of independent decision-making to resolve complex clinical and operational pharmaceutical challenges
  • Navigates and utilizes pharmacy software platforms efficiently, maintaining high proficiency in EPIC and Beacon systems
  • Consults professionally and maintains strong interpersonal relationships within the interdisciplinary oncology and MS care teams
  • Adheres strictly to legal, regulatory, and hospital standards regarding sterile IV compounding and hazardous drug handling
  • Optimizes patient outcomes by continuously monitoring patient responses to complex medication regimens and support therapies

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree
  • Must hold and maintain an active Registered Pharmacist license in good standing from the New Jersey Board of Pharmacy
  • A minimum of one year of experience in IV sterile compounding and oncology pharmacy practice is required
  • Proficient in the navigation and use of EPIC and Beacon electronic health record systems

Pay

The anticipated hourly wage range for this position is $70.84 - $87.56 per hour. The compensation offered will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills, and professional experience.

Schedule

  • Part-time (20 hours per week)
  • Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Flexibility for rotated hospital holiday and vacation coverage
