About the Role

Provides age-specific pharmaceutical care and basic clinical services for assigned patient care areas. Contributes to goals, programs, quality assurance (QA), performance improvement (PI), and other activities for their unit, department, or hospital. Performs additional duties as assigned, including PICC responsibilities for outpatient pharmacy.

Weekday shifts are typically 7:00 AM–7:00 PM and require work every other weekend (7:00 AM–3:00 PM).

Responsibilities

  • Manages medication orders, including age-specific considerations to ensure medication safety (processing, preparation, and dispensing).
  • Participates in pharmacotherapeutic plan processes.
  • Manages own pharmacy practice effectively.
  • Supervises and directs healthcare team members.
  • Processes and prepares sterile products for dispensing.
  • Contributes to goals, programs, and report cards for unit, department, or hospital.
  • Provides drug information and education.
  • Actively participates on inter- and intra-departmental committees.
  • Maximizes safety and efficiency through appropriate use of automation.
  • Completes assigned goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree.
  • Current, active, unrestricted pharmacy licensure for Mississippi or eligibility for licensure (must acquire within 120 days of hire).
  • One year of hospital pharmacy experience (minimum required).
  • Basic computer literacy and communication skills.
  • Cognitive ability to interpret and understand written medication orders and reference materials; accuracy and attention to detail required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BLS and/or ACLS certification.
  • Advanced post-graduate training or equivalent clinical experience.
  • Advanced computer order entry literacy, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, and clinical experience.
  • High-level cognitive ability to interpret and understand written medication orders and reference materials.
