Pharmacist Clinical Specialist, Emergency Medicine

Role Overview

The Pharmacist Clinical Specialist - Emergency Medicine is responsible for optimizing medication use in the emergency department for adult and pediatric patients. Responsibilities include reviewing medication orders, participating in high-risk procedures like code strokes and resuscitations, providing medication information, and ensuring safe, effective therapy. This role involves direct patient care, medication reconciliation, evaluating drug therapy regimens, and acting as a pharmacy content expert for emergency medicine initiatives. It also includes educating clinical staff and developing guidelines, policies, and educational materials to improve patient outcomes and reduce medication errors.

Qualifications & Skills

• B.S. in Pharmacy (Pharm.D. preferred)
• PGY2 or equivalent experience in Emergency Medicine/Critical Care
• Valid pharmacy license in New York or eligible for reciprocity
• ACLS and PALS certifications required
• BCPS or BCCCP preferred
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
• Strong knowledge of medication management, pharmacy principles, and regulatory standards
• Excellent judgment, communication, and adaptability
