ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Screens, checks and fills prescriptions, including the counseling of each patient.
- Responsible for dispensing, record-keeping and reports.
- Works with the Director of Pharmacy Services in the training and education of pharmacy students.
- Maintains current knowledge of drug therapy.
- Consults with physicians on patient medical history.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: BS in Pharmacy, two years experience as pharmacist.
- LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports and correspondence, communicate effectively, and communicate in Spanish and English.
- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics, add, subtract, multiply, and divide, compute rates, ratios, and percents.
- REASONING ABILITY: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions, apply concepts of basic mathematics, and communicate effectively.
- COMPETENCY/SKILL REQUIREMENT: Competency required in the areas of communication, medication theories, and assessment and visual presentation of data.
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Regularly required to talk and hear, stand, walk, climb, stoop, reach with arms and hands, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Occasional lifting and/or moving 25+ pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- MENTAL DEMANDS: Ability to learn and adapt to changes, exercise discretion and good judgment, develop options and solutions to crisis and problems, gather and analyze facts, pay close attention to detail, and deal with stressful situations such as emergencies and/or staff shortage.
- ENVIRONMENT: Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to operate basic office equipment, manage an office in an efficient manner, word processing, spreadsheet, accounting and general computer skills.
