Pharmacist

Retail Pharmacy | Reports directly to PIC; indirectly to RVP Pharmacy Operations

About the role

The Pharmacist oversees all aspects of the retail pharmacy (especially when the PIC is not present), with primary responsibilities including pharmacy employee supervision, prescription processing, and patient interaction/communication. The role requires working well in a fast-paced environment and demonstrating strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintains records of all pharmacy transactions to ensure accurate control over and accountability for all drugs, complying with applicable state and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
• Ensures legal operation of the pharmacy, including meeting all inspection and regulatory requirements.
• Maintains accurate records of all prescription transactions and submits appropriate claims for third-party reimbursement.
• Consults with physicians and nurses regarding pharmaceutical questions; advises on formulary medications and cost-effective therapies.
• Answers pharmaceutical questions from patients and staff; monitors storage, distribution, and use of pharmaceuticals.
• Provides training, assigns duties, and contributes to performance evaluations for pharmacy staff.
• Documents and reports medication errors to the direct supervisor.
• Maintains close control over all operations at the store level.
• Performs final checks of all prescriptions, patient counseling, pre-verification tasks, and adheres to all DEA, State Board of Pharmacy, and other regulatory requirements.
• Prepares the pharmacy for business, manages inventory control, and performs data entry.

Requirements

• National Certification required.
• Registered and licensed with the State Board of Pharmacy.
• Experience as a Pharmacist in a retail environment preferred.
• PharmD or BS in Pharmacy.
• Immunization Certification a plus.
• Proven focus on patient care.
• Outstanding organizational skills.
• Experience with Pioneer pharmacy software is a plus.

Schedule

Closed on Sundays, closes at 6 pm on weekdays, and open for 4 hours on Saturdays.
