Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assure the clinic maintains standard of pharmacy practice equal to or above those accepted by professional ethics and federal/state regulatory agencies.
- Provide in-service training for pharmacy personnel or other clinic personnel related to pharmaceutical issues.
- Perform the duties of a pharmacist, including dispensing prescriptions and counseling patients on their medications.
- Review charts per Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (OBRA) Requirements
- Assure the maintenance and safekeeping of pharmacy records.
- Utilize and supervise pharmacy technicians as appropriate, with the pharmacist assuming final responsibility for work performed by the staff.
- The pharmacist only delegates duties or activities to the staff as allowed by law and polices/procedures.
- Provide appropriate instructions/education for pharmacy staff.
- Maintain accurate records of all narcotics and other controlled substances as required by federal and state law.
- Oversee the clinic medication formulary.
- Maintain a cost-effective pharmacy inventory.
- Supervise the ordering of medications and supplies for pharmacy within the guidelines of the clinic formulary.
- Administer sliding fee schedule as appropriate for the pharmacy.
- Place medication orders for routine and special orders as warranted.
- Provide drug and pharmacy information, as needed, and requested, to medical providers and other clinic personnel.
- Ability to multi-task, manage time, meet deadlines, and remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Maintain standards of confidentiality of CC Idaho clients and records
- Maintain strict confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Perform all work duties and activities in compliance with CC Idaho, Joint Commission, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations.
Required Physical Demands
- Is occasionally asked to stand; walk; climb or balance, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl;
- Reach with hands and arms;
- Grasping/holding.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
Work Environment
- Work in an office setting;
- The work may be stressful;
- The noise level is moderate;
- May be exposed to electrical shock and fumes or airborne particles.
