About the role
The Pharmacist Shift provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care and operational support within pharmacy services at Children’s of Alabama. This position ensures the accuracy, safety, and timeliness of medication preparation and distribution while providing clinical expertise to support optimal therapeutic outcomes.
Responsibilities
- One-on-one communications with physicians, medical residents, nursing staff, other pharmacists, patients/parents, and other Children’s of Alabama employees.
- Supervising pharmacy interns, pharmacy residents, technicians, and students.
- Evaluates and verifies medication orders, monitors patient responses, provides drug information to healthcare professionals, and participates in emergency response activities.
- Provides clinical expertise and leads and collaborates effectively with other members of the healthcare team.
Requirements
- Licensed Pharmacist
- Pharmacy Parenteral Certification
- Alabama Controlled Substances Registration
Qualifications
- Doctorate of Pharmacy in Pharmacy

The Pharmacy Department operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide excellent pharmaceutical care to Children’s of Alabama Patients. Services include, compounding of sterile and non-sterile medication, pharmacokinetics, medication order verification, OR preference bags, hazardous medication dispensing and compounding, clinical pharmacy services, unit-dosing of medication, automatic dispensing machines (Pyxis), investigational study pharmacy, medication delivery and more.
