About the Role

This is a full-time position supporting the Northern Cheyenne Service Unit’s Northern Cheyenne Health Center in Lame Deer, MT.

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, 8-hour shifts with 30-minute lunch
  • Shift options: 0700-1530 or 0830-1700

Responsibilities

  • Screen patient charts to ensure medication orders align with chart notes, lab work, vitals, allergies, etc.
  • Process new medication orders and fill prescription orders when needed.
  • Check filled prescription orders for accuracy.
  • Educate patients on medication therapy and provide patient education.
  • Collaborate with the pharmacy team and providers to ensure timely and accurate pharmaceutical services.
  • Answer provider questions regarding drug therapy and clarify orders to ensure proper medication, dose, and dosage form.
  • Recognize life-threatening emergencies, initiate and maintain resuscitation measures, and handle adverse reactions to medications or treatments.
  • Answer and screen telephone calls, take refill requests, and input outside prescriptions into the system.
  • Perform controlled substance audits as directed.
  • Assist with putting away orders as needed.
  • Prepare I.V. admixtures and manage inpatient drug distribution based on patient care needs and Service Unit policies.
  • Administer immunizations (certification required).
  • Participate in training and competency activities, including annual safety and infection control, and other mandatory training.
  • Utilize the electronic health record for chart documentation after receiving training.
  • Prepare and complete required documents in a timely manner, adhering to Service Unit Medical By-Laws and Clinic Policy.
  • Complete chart notes on the day services are rendered, with rare exceptions.
  • Ensure consistent performance of patient care processes according to The Joint Commission (TJC) accreditation standards within IHS.
  • Attend assigned meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from an Accredited Pharmacy School Program.
  • Active, unrestricted, and disciplinary-action-free license as a Pharmacist in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States.
  • Zero (0) to one (1) year of experience as a registered Pharmacist.
  • Current certification in BLS (Basic Life Support).
  • Valid state driver’s license from any of the 50 United States or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
