About the Role

Reporting to the Director, Pharmacy Services, the temporary full-time pharmacist will provide clinical coverage to an assigned clinical unit. There are no overnight or on-call shifts for pharmacists at BCHS.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate good stewardship in the identification, reporting, and mitigation of unsafe acts or conditions, aligning with BCHS’s corporate priority of safety (patient, worker, and workplace).
  • Practice in accordance with relevant legislation, CSHP standards, professional code of ethics, and department and hospital policies.
  • Assume personal responsibility for continually upgrading medication and therapeutic knowledge through ongoing literature review and staying current with clinical pharmacy practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD degree.
  • Licensed (Part A) Pharmacist in the Province of Ontario.
  • Experience in an inpatient hospital pharmacy environment preferred.

Skills

  • Excellent communication, analytical, and time-management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently, and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated with a commitment to continuing education in drug therapy.
  • Proficient computer and keyboarding skills for reports and special assignments.
  • Able to participate in shift and weekend rotations as per schedule.
