PH Trainer PT-3

About the Role

This role involves training other Package Handlers (PHs) on efficient and safe package handling techniques, including loading, unloading, palletizing, and scanning. The position also requires physically handling packages, ensuring adherence to safety standards, and assisting in implementing new procedures.

Responsibilities

• Train new PHs on unloading, loading, palletizing, carrying, smalls handling, SWAK, and non-conveyable package handling techniques.
• Provide additional training to PHs needing instruction in package handling techniques as determined by management.
• Offer feedback on proper package handling techniques.
• Reinforce dock safety standards among peer PHs.
• Demonstrate necessary processes and procedures by example.
• Update managers on sort conditions to aid in operational efficiency decisions.
• Assist in implementing new package handling procedures and techniques.
• Regularly perform physical tasks such as loading, unloading, palletizing, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling packages while training other PHs.
• Utilize hand-to-surface methods for package handling.
• Determine appropriate conveyor systems by scanning packages, reading labels, and sorting accordingly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to train multiple peer PHs simultaneously.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions regarding work duties and safety methods.
• Ability to discern numbers and information for accurate package sorting.
• Ability to use basic tools and equipment such as skate wheel rollers, dock carts, hand-held scanners, chutes, and unloading devices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.
• For PHs operating switching equipment: a valid driver’s license and maintenance of a Department of Transportation (DOT) file.

Job Conditions

• Work in hot and cold temperatures.
• Work in an environment with loud noise.
• Lift and carry between 10 and 50 pounds.
• Travel is not required.

Qualifications

• No formal education required.
• No experience required; six (6) months of experience as a PH with FedEx Ground preferred.

Pay

$22.50 per hour.
