Job Summary
The Patient Financial Supervisor oversees and supports patient accounts representatives in resolving complex accounts and ensuring consistent and compassionate interactions with patients during billing and follow-up activities. This role also involves monitoring self-pay and third-party collection activities, assisting with overpayment refunds, and developing and revising departmental policies.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and support patient accounts representatives in resolving complex accounts and maintaining consistent and compassionate interactions with patients.
- Coordinate representatives' efforts to handle delayed, denied, and underpaid claims.
- Assist staff with challenging accounts and escalate critical issues to the manager.
- Identify and process overpayments, providing refunds as needed.
- Work with the manager to establish and revise policies and procedures for the department's efficacy.
Requirements
- Associates degree in a related field (Accounting, Business, or Finance) or equivalent, with three years of progressively responsible work experience in healthcare finance.
- Experience with Patient Accounting Systems, Billing & Follow-up, Windows, Microsoft Office, and Excel.
- Knowledge of fiscal, administrative, and clinical systems.
- Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
- Positive work ethic and ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Organized and self-motivated.
Qualifications
- Must be certified as a Patient Account Representative (CPAR).
- Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to carry out supervisory responsibilities according to SGMC’s policies and procedures and applicable laws.
