Job Summary

The Patient Financial Supervisor oversees and supports patient accounts representatives in resolving complex accounts and ensuring consistent and compassionate interactions with patients during billing and follow-up activities. This role also involves monitoring self-pay and third-party collection activities, assisting with overpayment refunds, and developing and revising departmental policies.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and support patient accounts representatives in resolving complex accounts and maintaining consistent and compassionate interactions with patients.
  • Coordinate representatives' efforts to handle delayed, denied, and underpaid claims.
  • Assist staff with challenging accounts and escalate critical issues to the manager.
  • Identify and process overpayments, providing refunds as needed.
  • Work with the manager to establish and revise policies and procedures for the department's efficacy.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in a related field (Accounting, Business, or Finance) or equivalent, with three years of progressively responsible work experience in healthcare finance.
  • Experience with Patient Accounting Systems, Billing & Follow-up, Windows, Microsoft Office, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of fiscal, administrative, and clinical systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Positive work ethic and ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Organized and self-motivated.

Qualifications

  • Must be certified as a Patient Account Representative (CPAR).
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to carry out supervisory responsibilities according to SGMC’s policies and procedures and applicable laws.
