Petroleum Tank Farm Operator
Job Summary:
Terminal Operator Looking for a mechanically inclined petroleum tank farm operator. Petroleum experience is preferred but will train the right candidate. Our 24/7 operation requires shift work and overtime.
- Perform all functions of Terminal Operations as directed by work orders and/or supervision consistent with standard operating procedures, and state and local regulations in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
- Handle liquid product handling of a variety of chemicals and petrochemicals, by way of pipelines, barges, tank-to-tank transfers, tank cars, boiler operations, and other work required within the terminal.
- Conduct physical gauges and side gauge readings as required.
- Operate heating functions of required products in terminal storage facilities and mode units as required.
- Conduct spill cleanup operations as required.
- Perform housekeeping chores on operation activities, grounds, and buildings.
- Assist in environmental services and maintenance as required.
- Participate in company training programs and related testing.
- Perform all work in compliance with Company standards and procedures requirements.
Position Requirements:
- Educational Requirements (minimal requirements and any additional education or training that would be helpful): High School Diploma or GED is required. Trade school, formal training/significant work experience, or an associate degree is highly desirable.
- Experience/familiarity with pipe wrenches, box wrenches, and other similar tools.
- Excellent mathematical skills (Addition, Subtraction, Fractions, Multiplication, and Percentages).
- A flexible schedule to work in a 24-hour per day operation and/or weekend/holiday work is required.
- The ability to work from written and verbal instructions.
- Must be able to work with a team, take direction from the Terminal Manager, adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules, as well as, take on additional job responsibilities as needed.
- Superior work ethic and dependability.
- Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions as outside work is mandatory.
- Physical requirements include, but may not be limited to, walking up and down stairs/ladders including heights over 40 feet, negotiating uneven surfaces, and carrying up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to wear standard PPE (Hard Hat, Rain Gear, Steel Toe Boots).
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Successful completion of a drug screen upon offer.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
Preferred Experience, Skills, and Knowledge (above the minimum requirements; not required, but advantageous in this position):
- Experience with handling Hazardous liquid chemicals is a plus.
- Familiarity with OSHA, DOT, Industrial Hygiene, and other industry regulations is a major plus.
- Tank Operator, Boiler Operator, Gauger, and/or Maintenance Mechanic experience is a plus.
- Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to stand; walk; use hands, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
- The work environment involves hazards, risks, or discomforts typical of working around with or around machinery with exposed moving parts, arrant chemicals, heavy equipment, extreme heights, or abusive or hostile clientele and patients.
- Exposure to disagreeable weather conditions and extreme levels of temperature, ventilation, lighting, and sound is normal.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
