About the role
The Petroleum Construction Installer Level 1 (Construction Helper) performs tasks requiring physical labor on construction sites, primarily assisting construction craft workers or electricians. Responsibilities range from carrying tools and materials to setting up equipment, with tasks varying in complexity from simple to hazardous.
Pay scale: $18–23/hr depending on experience.
Responsibilities
- Willing to travel up to 50–60% of the time.
- Spot and direct heavy equipment operators (e.g., track hoe, loaders) during excavation from the ground.
- Operate small equipment such as a skid steer loader.
- Cut and thread steel pipe; assist in fitting and installing underground and above-ground tanks.
- Assist the foreman with shooting grades and documentation.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized job site per the foreman’s direction.
- Ensure all signs, safety barricades, and devices are in place.
- Comply with all safety requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Account for, clean, and organize all tools on the truck or job trailer.
- Keep job inventory accurate.
- Work after-hours as required.
- Able to work in all weather conditions; significant portion of work is outdoors.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Basic understanding of measurements, math, and mechanical skills.
- Eligible to work in the United States.
- Must pass company employment requirements, including drug screen, background check, and MVR (if driving for the company).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to repetitively lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent bending, stooping, and standing for 8–10 hours per day.
