Major Duties / Critical Tasks
- P practices proper entries and records on the imaging system and radiology information system.
- Prepares patient for PET/CT procedure by accurately assessing patient's needs and providing patient education.
- Operates computed tomography scanner for data acquisition, reconstruction of images, documentation of images, and performs quality control measures.
- P practices accurate and timely completion of scheduled and unscheduled work to maximize productivity.
- P practices safety measures in PET/CT and Environment of Care.
- P practices the profession's code of ethics in all aspects of practice.
- P operates the gamma camera to detect and diagnose problems in patients.
- P uses the radioactive tracer to diagnose problems in patients.
- P operates radiopharmaceutical equipment.
- P communicates with patients and other health care workers.
- P communicates with radiologists and nuclear medicine physicians.
- P uses mathematical formulas to calculate radiation exposure for patients.
- P follows protocols for protection of self and others from radiation exposure.
- P performs other related duties as required.
Supervision Reports To
- To: Site Administrator
Required Education / Experience
- Graduate of an accredited radiography program, ARRT registered.
- Individuals must be certified as a nuclear medicine technologist through ARRT or the NMTCB.
- One year PET/CT experience or graduate of CT training program with minimum of 500 clinical hours of PET/CT training.
