PET Technologist (2026-0793)

About the Role

Under the direction of the Facility Manager and the Medical Director, performs PET/CT exams at a technical level requiring limited or no supervision. This role involves a variety of procedures, including independent judgment for the preparation, calibration, and administration of radiopharmaceuticals, performing quality control, diagnostic imaging procedures, and CT procedures.

Areas of assignment include the Olympic Building and MAC.

Responsibilities

• Performs all PET/CT procedures, adapting to special positioning needs of individual patients.
• Practices radiation safety (ALARA) in the preparation, handling, administration, and disposal of radiopharmaceuticals.
• Maintains department records for quality control, radiation monitoring and surveys, and radioactive materials handling.
• Orders radiopharmaceuticals according to prescribed schedules and on a stat basis.
• Operates imaging and auxiliary equipment according to written procedures/protocols, demonstrating proficiency.
• Reports and records equipment problems promptly and initiates service calls as necessary.
• Documents pertinent clinical history and symptoms.
• Participates in the utilization and support of PACS systems.
• Uses computer systems to obtain lab values, enter exam charges, schedule patients, enter orders, and access reports.
• Assists in writing and revising procedures/protocols and evaluating/standardizing new procedures.
• Maintains a working knowledge of medications used in nuclear medicine.
• Provides physiological monitoring and care of patients during PET/CT procedures.
• Maintains proficiency in starting IV lines and follows proper injection procedures.
• Develops and maintains respectful relationships with physicians, their staff, and all customers.
• Transports patients as necessary, utilizing appropriate safety resources.
• Provides documentation of personal credentials per department policy and maintains education records.

Requirements

• Completion of a formal Nuclear Medicine program with advanced training in PET and ARRT with advanced training in CT.
• NMTCB or ARRT(N) registry-eligible in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
• Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers (current employees as of 9/1/16 have until 9/1/17 to obtain).

Pay

Salary range: $57.05–$95.73 per hour, depending on experience.
