Pet Technician Part-Time

Specific Responsibilities

  • Receive pets from veterinary clinics, animal hospitals, shelters, and authorized representatives.
  • Verify identification information and documentation upon receipt.
  • Meet with families to make arrangements for the disposition of their deceased pets.
  • Maintain accurate chain-of-custody records throughout the aftercare process.
  • Affix and verify identification tags, tracking systems, and documentation.
  • Ensure pets are handled respectfully and professionally at all times.
  • Verify all paperwork, identification tags, and tracking information is accurate before and after cremation.
  • Ensure accurate return of cremated remains to veterinary partners and families.
  • Report discrepancies immediately to management.
  • Follow established quality assurance procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the crematory, vehicles, storage areas, and equipment.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections.
  • Auxiliary with preventative maintenance activities.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the work environment.
  • Interact professionally and compassionately with veterinary staff, pet owners, and coworkers.
  • Respond courteously to inquiries when assigned.
  • Represent the company in a professional manner at all times.
  • Assist with inventory management and supply organization.
  • Support special memorialization services when requested.
  • Participate in on-call, weekend, evening, or holiday schedules as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Experience And Educational Requirements

    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • Minimum 18 years of age
    • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
    • Ability to pass background screening consistent with applicable law
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Experience in veterinary services, animal care, funeral service, transportation, logistics, warehouse operations, healthcare, or customer service is a plus

    Work Environment

    • Funeral home, crematory, and/or preparation room settings.
    • Crematories, veterinary offices, clinics, and other locations where removals may occur.

    Availability

    • Availability for evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments may be required.

    Physical Demands

    • The Employee Must Regularly Be Able To Stand and walk for extended periods.
    • Bend, stoop, kneel, squat, and reach.
    • Lift and move up to 75 pounds independently.
    • Lift and move greater weights with assistance or equipment.
    • Push and pull carts and transport equipment.
    • Operate company vehicles safely.
    • Work in indoor and outdoor environments.
    • Work near heat-producing cremation equipment.
