About the role

Fairfax County Animal Services (FCAS) is seeking a dynamic, compassionate, and dedicated individual to manage the Pet Resource Center (PRC). The successful candidate will work under the general supervision of the Deputy Director, Chief of Field Services, and in collaboration with various teams to lead the development, management, and execution of PRC events, programs, and projects.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the development and execution of the PRC’s mission, ensuring the delivery of accessible wrap-around services to Fairfax County families.
  • Creates, implements, and manages Standard Operating Procedures for PRC programs, services, events, and donation management.
  • Develops communication and learning plans to promote PRC programs to county organizations, community members, and stakeholders.
  • Fosters and manages strategic partnerships with county agencies and private sector organizations to expand the reach and impact of PRC initiatives.
  • Applies principles of community health management and population health to identify and address barriers that contribute to companion animal relinquishment.
  • Supervises the PRC team and volunteers, ensuring all staff are trained in animal welfare best practices and continuously developing their skills.
  • Manages the PRC operating budget, contracts, inventory, and justifies budgetary needs.
  • Establishes and tracks Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), utilizing logic models to measure the effectiveness of PRC programs and set desired outcomes.
  • Conducts demographic research and data analysis through GIS mapping, qualitative and quantitative data to inform program development and decision-making.
  • Prepares reports and presentations of program effectiveness to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Evaluates the accessibility and equity of FCAS practices and provides recommendations for improvement.

Requirements

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of animal welfare best practices, community health management, and population health principles, as well as excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.

Skills

The ideal candidate will have experience with data analysis, budget management, and contract management, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Pay

The salary offer will be in the minimum to midpoint ($70,149.87 to $96,456.05) of the advertised compensation range.

Schedule

This role requires flexibility, as it may involve working varying shifts and/or being reassigned to different department facilities as needed. The schedule may include evenings, weekends, and occasional holiday availability.
