About the role

The PET/Nuc Med Technologist performs Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT procedures in accordance with approved protocols and NRC/PA DEP standards. Responsibilities include preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals, operating nuclear medicine and PET imaging equipment, and documenting procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with Jefferson's values.
  • Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including routine nuclear medicine studies, nuclear cardiology, and PET/CT oncology, neurology, and cardiology procedures.
  • Operates nuclear medicine and PET/CT equipment using proper techniques and patient positioning to produce high quality images.
  • Prepares, measures, administers, and records radioactive materials according to departmental policies and NRC and state regulations.
  • Demonstrates competency in IV placement and securement, and extravasation handling.
  • Calls service when needed for equipment that requires maintenance.
  • Documents receipt, storage, administration, and disposal of all radioactive materials in computer information system.
  • Maintains patient care quality standards as it relates to the care provided to all age groups of patients ranging from newborn to elderly.
  • Maintains technical competency through continued education as required for certifications and licenses.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Program
  • Knowledge of RIS
  • Knowledge of PACS
  • Radiology - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • CNMT - Certified Nuclear Medical Technologist - Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
  • BLS - Basic Life Support
  • AHA - American Heart Association

Qualifications

  • Covers all shifts and locations on a rotational basis.
  • On call coverage required according to department need.

Physical Demands

  • Lift and carry 40-50 lbs.
  • Frequent to continuous standing/walking.
  • Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift.
  • May perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR.
