Pet Groomer

ChaCha's Dog Daycare & Grooming is a Sacramento institution with 25 years in the community. We have an immediate opening for an experienced, independent groomer with 36+ haircut appointments per week already on the books. No building a client base from scratch—immediate income from day one. You'll work alongside a bather/prep assistant who handles bath, blowdry, and setup so you can focus on the cut.

About the role

• Guaranteed base hourly pay + commission on haircuts you complete
• Commission scales with your verified productivity—we pay you more as you get faster
• $1,000 retention bonus after six months

Responsibilities

• Brush and detangle or remove matted fur
• Bathe dogs and dry coat
• Execute a variety of clipping techniques and style requests
• Examine for parasites or other skin conditions
• Trim nails
• Ensure the safety of dogs at all times
• Adhere to strict sanitary and cleaning procedures
• Communicate effectively and compassionately with pet owners
• Study proportions of dogs to determine the most appropriate cutting pattern to achieve the desired style
• Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness while completing work promptly
• Respond promptly to customer needs, solicit customer feedback to improve service, and respond to requests for service and assistance
• Observe safety and security procedures and use equipment and materials properly
• Basic daily and weekly cleaning of the grooming station/spa
• Keep records of grooming treatments and other updates

Requirements

• Two years experience as a dog grooming technician or a similar role
• Comfortable working with anxious animals
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift large dogs over 60 pounds
• Willingness to learn new techniques and participate in continuing education
• Strong attention to detail
• Bathing and clipping hair of all dog breeds
• Nail trimming, teeth brushing, and ear cleaning
