Responsibilities
- Performs PET scan procedures to include injection of radiopharmaceutical, setup of protocol, reconstruction and development of images, coordination of image on report function and archiving of images.
- Affords assistance in procedure scheduling and related front office functions to ensure smooth workflow.
- Ensures accuracy of patient demographic information, report distribution and patient files.
- Affords assistance with collection of clinical data for patient follow-up and development of teaching and educational information.
- Performs CT and Simulation procedures as ordered achieving a high level of quality.
- Offers expertise to physicians regarding appropriateness of additional/modified studies, etc.
- Escorts patients to treatment room.
- Affords assistance with dressings as necessary.
- Completes all paperwork necessary to ensure timely delivery of PET, CT and Simulation services.
- Utilizes treatment accessories to accurately reproduce the radiation treatment.
- Constructs immobilization devices and employs custom construction techniques that are conducive to conformal Radiation Therapy.
- Provides protection for patients and self in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
- Ensures the safety and physical comfort of the patient while in technologists' care.
- Conducts daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly quality control measures to monitor machine and equipment performance.
- Reports all malfunctions and/or need for adjustments to the proper company or facility.
- Arranges preventive maintenance as recommended by vendors.
- Follows prescribed safety standards in operating equipment.
- Performs all other duties/responsibilities as necessary or assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications
- Formal Education, Certification/Licensure, and Prior Experience:
- To Perform This Job Successfully, An Individual Must Have an associate's degree in nuclear medicine technology from an accredited program.
- Three (3) years' experience in nuclear medicine and/or previous PET experience
- CNMT (Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist) or ARRT (N) certification state licensure where applicable
