About the role
As a YMCA staff member, you'll provide excellent service to members in a positive environment that promotes wellness and engagement. You will help support clients' safety and training goals while leading them in appropriate activities.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and instruct a variety of personal training and small group training sessions for members.
- Provide encouragement and expertise to clients in support of their health and well-being goals.
- Administer, track, and evaluate health history questionnaires, fitness assessments, and other pre-participation documentation with regard to individual exercise programs.
- Adhere to all guidelines and expectations, including providing safe sessions and responding to and reporting any accidents or incidents.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Nationally Accredited Personal Training Certification such as:
- American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)
- American Council on Exercise (ACE)
- National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)
- National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM)
- or other approved and accredited certifications.
- Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/PR, First Aid, AED, and Oxygen.
- Demonstrated customer service skills and verbal communication skills.
Physical Demands
- Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Physical activities include:
- Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
- Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
- Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
- Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
- Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
- Crawling: Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
- Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.
- Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks.
- Pushing/Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force.
- Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally.
- Talking and Hearing: Conveying and perceiving detailed information through oral communication.
- Repetitive Motions: Substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Visual Acuity: Operating machines and performing skilled trades tasks.
- Working Conditions: Subject to noise sufficient to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.

Pay
USD $22.00 - USD $35.00 per hour based on experience and availability. We have 3 levels of qualifications with ascending pay ranges.
