About the role
Breuckelen Athletic is a high-end training and recovery facility located in Gowanus/Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, NY. Our mission is to provide the best training experience for members across their needs and build meaningful relationships with our members. We focus on life and mental well-being through fitness and promote the love of the process.
Responsibilities
- Coach a combination of private and semi-private training sessions, creating thoughtful, individualized programs that support each member's goals, abilities, and lifestyle.
- Deliver a consistently high-quality coaching experience that reflects Breuckelen Athletic's mission, philosophy, and standards.
- Conduct introductory sessions that help prospective members understand the value of training at BA.
- Build trust-based relationships with members and serve as a key partner in their long-term health and fitness journey.
- Maintain accurate and organized client records, programming notes, and communication.
- Identify opportunities to improve member engagement, retention, and overall experience.
- Collaborate with fellow coaches and leadership to ensure consistency in coaching quality and member outcomes.
- Respond professionally and promptly to member questions, feedback, and requests.
- Contribute to ongoing education, team development, and discussions around coaching methodology and best practices.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, welcoming facility that reflects the standards of the Breuckelen Athletic brand.
Requirements
- Minimum 3+ years of coaching experience in a professional setting, including gyms, studios, strength and conditioning facilities, performance environments, or related disciplines.
- Experience designing and delivering individualized programming for a variety of clients, goals, and ability levels.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with members.
- Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships independently and maintain a high standard of service.
- Experience with semi-private training, group training, athletic performance, or specialty modalities is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Nutrition, Athletic Training, Kinesiology, or a related field is a plus but not required.
- Nationally recognized training certification required.
- CPR certification required.
- Experience in hospitality, operations, customer service, or other professional environments is highly valued.
