About the role
The Personal Trainer at the YMCA of Greenville is responsible for serving members in health and fitness by providing one-on-one programs tailored to individual needs. This role involves advanced knowledge and skills to support clients in achieving their fitness goals while promoting the YMCA’s mission and core values.
Responsibilities
- Actively participate as a Wellness Coach.
- Provide comprehensive fitness assessments for members and clients.
- Develop personalized exercise programs for members and clients.
- Ensure proper administrative documentation of client sessions.
- Demonstrate exceptional knowledge of exercise modes and techniques.
- Promote and incorporate the YMCA’s 4 core values to members and clients.
- Obtain relevant continuing education credits (CECs) and keep certifications up to date.
- Perform additional duties as assigned (e.g., newsletters, articles, staff trainings, workshops, health education).
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of all exercise equipment.
- Ensure exercise programs deliver measurable results and client satisfaction.
- Provide adequate availability for members and clients.
- Adhere to the Non-Compete Clause (no training with specific YMCA of Greenville competitors).
- Follow policies related to boundaries with consumers and abuse risk management training.
- Adhere to mandated reporting requirements and procedures for managing high-risk activities.
- Perform front desk duties, including ensuring proper sign-in/out procedures and facility access.
Requirements
- Current NCCA Personal Trainer certification (ACSM, NSCA, NETA, NASM, or ACE).
- CPR/First Aid & AED Certified (or certification attained within 30 days of employment).
- Excellent member service skills.
- Strong knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology, and physiology.
- Marketing and sales ability.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and email.
- Desire for health, wellness, and fitness promotion.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Personal passion for health and fitness.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in an Exercise-Related Field and/or equivalent health and fitness experience.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Frequent movement throughout the facilities.
- Maintain a stationary position for more than 2.5 hours per day.
