About the Role
The YMCA seeks passionate leaders to help transform lives through a holistic approach to personal training, focusing on mind, body, and spirit. As a Personal Trainer, you will create lasting relationships and build a community of empowered members through healthy living.
Responsibilities
- Supports the Mission and Vision of the YMCA and builds community.
- Builds a personal training clientele for one-on-one and small group training.
- Demonstrates and explains exercises with proper form and technique.
- Develops positive relationships with members and provides motivational support.
- Participates in Trainer Education Lectures for members.
- Tracks client progress and follows up regularly.
- Meets or exceeds monthly personal training session goals.
- Actively promotes personal training services through outreach, demonstrations, and events.
- Operates all equipment properly and reports any issues.
- Available to work shifts on the gym floor as support staff when needed.
- Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and emergency procedures.
- Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
- Attends required trainings and meetings; participates in professional development opportunities.
Requirements
- Two or four-year degree in Exercise Science or related field (preferred but not required).
- Nationally accredited certification (preferred: NSCA, ACSM, NASM).
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
- Enthusiastic, passionate, friendly, and ambitious personality.
- Ability to perform fitness assessments and teach progressive exercise programs tailored to member goals.
- Skill in instructing and observing participants using proper exercise techniques.
- Ability to create and monitor safe, effective exercise programs while recognizing member potential and limitations.
- Strong communication and sales skills to promote the value of personal training.
- Proficiency in member management software for client tracking and communication.
- Commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all members.
- Reliable, dependable, flexible, and adaptable with mature judgment and sound decision-making.
- Observant, safety-conscious, and able to react calmly and quickly in emergencies.

Pay
$27.00 - $30.00 per hour.
