About the role
We are seeking a Personal Trainer to join our health and fitness team. This is a part-time position averaging 25 hours per week, with the potential to transition to full-time based on developing a full training roster and class schedule.
As a Personal Trainer, you will enrich lives by providing clients with motivation, education, guidance, and individualized instruction tailored to their fitness ability and experience. You will conduct fitness consultations and assessments to develop safe, personalized fitness programs aligned with each client’s objectives. Additionally, you will monitor form, provide feedback to prevent injury, and maintain open communication throughout the service.
Group instruction may include classes designed for specific diseases or disorders. Our club serves the public aged 50 and over, with a highly developed program for members living with Parkinson’s.
Responsibilities
- Conduct fitness consultations and assessments to develop individualized fitness programs.
- Provide motivation, education, and guidance tailored to each client’s fitness level and goals.
- Monitor client form and provide feedback to ensure safety and prevent injury.
- Lead group exercise classes, including those designed for specific health conditions (e.g., Parkinson’s).
- Maintain open communication with clients throughout their fitness journey.
Requirements
- Current certification through a nationally accredited organization (e.g., ACSM, NSCA, NASM, ACE).
- Experience working with a variety of fitness levels in both group and one-on-one settings.
- Enthusiasm and passion for helping senior adults achieve and maintain physical fitness.
- Commitment to providing 5-star hospitality to clients.
- Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Qualifications
- Experience with Parkinson’s is strongly preferred.
- A four-year college degree in an exercise science-related discipline is ideal.
- Genuine interest in working with adults aged 40+ to help them achieve fitness goals.
- Experience instructing group exercise classes in formats aligned with your certification.
- Positive, upbeat, and energetic approach to health, wellness, teamwork, and hospitality.
- Experience with aging adults, special fitness populations, or retirement community settings is a plus.
- Experience with balance training is also a plus.
