Personal Trainer
About the role
Contribute to membership sales and retention by servicing members with personalized fitness programs, ensuring safety regulations are followed, providing service enhancements, assisting in activity and class programming, and maintaining the cleanliness of the fitness area and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Actively pursue personal training clients and recruit members and guests into activities and events.
- Ensure membership retention, repeat daily guest usage, and referrals through high-level member and guest service.
- Provide on-floor instruction and assistance while maintaining visual cleanliness and order.
- Monitor and educate members on incentive programming and workout cards.
- Communicate training methods effectively and ensure correct exercise techniques by constant circulation in the fitness area.
- Adhere to safety regulations in all areas.
- Provide service enhancements, address member questions, concerns, and directions, and assist in achieving member goals.
- Motivate members to continue their health programs.
- Assist in programming, marketing, and promotion as designated by the Fitness Manager.
- Distribute marketing and promotional information to communicate events.
- Assist with group personal training classes if qualified.
- Communicate weekly with the Fitness Manager to provide updates on activities.
- Collect fees via computer (POS) or manual sales invoice.
- Conduct new client assessments and follow-up phone calls to monitor progress and ensure goals are met.
Requirements
- One of the following:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a related field (sport science, exercise physiology, human performance, nutrition, etc.) and/or a certification from ACE, ACSM, NSCA, NETA, NASM, Registered Dietitian, or coaching endorsement.
- An Associate’s degree in a related field (sport science, exercise physiology, human performance, nutrition, etc.), a certification from ACE, ACSM, NSCA, or NASM, and 2+ years of documented experience in an exercise-related field.
- Two national certifications from ACE, ACSM, NSCA, NASM, and NETA, and 5+ years of documented experience in an exercise-related field.
- Basic knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology.
- Working knowledge of machine weights, free weights, cardiovascular equipment, and other resistance training tools.
- Working knowledge of fitness assessment protocols and testing procedures.
- CPR and First Aid certifications or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
Physical Demands
- Inside (sheltered) work: 100% of the time.
- On feet or standing: 100% of the time.
- Lifting: 5% of the time, up to 45 lbs.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting: 75% of the time.
