Personal Trainer
The City of Redmond is a thriving, culturally diverse community home to over 80,000 residents. Redmond serves as a hub for technology, aerospace, gaming, biomedical, and innovation start-ups. The City builds community through people, parks, arts, recreation, and conservation, offering over 1,351 acres of parkland, 47 parks, and 39 miles of public trails. This role delivers a motivating, safe, and supportive training experience for clients at the new Redmond Senior and Community Center.
About the role
This part-time Personal Trainer position is ideal for someone passionate about health and wellness who enjoys empowering individuals of all ages and ability levels to build confidence, improve fitness, and achieve personal goals. The role is limited to a maximum of 29 hours per week on average and no more than 1,040 hours per year.
Responsibilities
- Conduct personalized training sessions that begin and end on time, following individualized client programs.
- Adapt programming to meet clients’ needs, goals, limitations, and abilities.
- Provide coaching cues, encouragement, and form corrections to ensure safe and effective workouts.
- Track client progress and update training plans as needed.
- Communicate professionally with clients and staff regarding scheduling, goals, and safety concerns.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED; degree in kinesiology, sports medicine, or related field preferred.
- At least one year of experience in leading group exercise classes.
- First Aid and CPR certification (must be obtained within two months of hire).
- Current Personal Trainer certifications (ACE, NASM, ACSM, or equivalent) highly preferred.
- Successful passing of a required background check.

Physical Demands
- Frequent communication with City employees and customers.
- Hours vary; personal training appointments may be scheduled in mornings, evenings, or weekends.
- Ability to demonstrate exercises, adjust equipment, and occasionally move items up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to remain active for extended periods while demonstrating proper form and technique.
Schedule
Variable, based on scheduled personal training clients. Trainers must have availability in mornings, daytime, and/or evenings to accommodate a range of client needs.
