Pay

This position features a tiered commission structure, with entry-tier session earnings ranging between $24.15 and $39.20/hour depending on package and session type. Non-session duties are compensated at a flat rate of $20.00/hour. Actual earnings will vary based on session volume, package type, and progression through commission tiers.

Responsibilities

  • Report to work in uniform a minimum of fifteen minutes prior to assigned shift to receive communications and prepare the appropriate space.
  • Provide excellent services to members, guests, and program participants in-person, on the phone, and through email.
  • Build meaningful relationships through positive and solution-driven interactions.
  • Promote wellness concepts that embody a well-rounded, healthy, and safe lifestyle.
  • Obtain and maintain national personal training certification and continuous education on formats.
  • Maintain required CECs, certification requirements, and ongoing trainings.
  • Adhere to format and certification requirements while training.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity and patience in dealing with diverse membership and wellness levels; avoid intimidating environments.
  • Coach and encourage members to meet their wellness goals.
  • Maintain administrative responsibilities, including recording appointments and ongoing communication for supervisors.
  • Monitor, clean, and inspect equipment regularly; report any challenges or concerns.
  • Adhere to and enforce all policies, guidelines, rules, and best practices as outlined by the Y in Central Maryland.
  • Handle conflict, concerns, member frustrations, and unusual center situations professionally.
  • Inform proper leaders of operating challenges or conflicts during operating hours.
  • Focus on quality experiences and engagement within programs, services, and activities.
  • Promote a professional image and maintain a clean and safe environment at all times.
  • Work with diverse populations, including all ages, genders, and sexual orientations.
  • Attend and actively participate in all assigned meetings.
  • Incorporate the four character values of the Y: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility, and adhere to the Y Code of Conduct.
  • Communicate the Y mission and objectives to the community.
  • Assist in all other areas as assigned.

Requirements

  • Nationally recognized accredited personal training certification (e.g., ACE, NASM, ISSA, NCSF).
  • Agreement to abide by The Code of Conduct with Youth, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for young people.
  • Completion of training on child abuse prevention and compliance with legal reporting requirements.
