Department Overview

The Corporate Security Department (CSD) is key to protecting employees, the contract workforce, the public, and the company’s physical assets, including several critical to the nation’s power grid infrastructure. CSD develops, communicates, and implements processes and tools related to investigations, formal communications with company officers, personnel development, and coordination of physical security efforts. The department emphasizes close partnerships with other functional organizations and law enforcement to ensure quick response and appropriate communication of issues and mitigation plans.

About the Role

The Personal Security Advisor is a highly trained professional responsible for safeguarding the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and other Senior Officers. Responsibilities include conducting security advances, threat assessments, planning secure routes, providing close physical protection, and responding to potential security threats while maintaining a discreet presence. This is a full-time, hourly position requiring approximately 40 hours per week, with at least 50% travel outside the San Francisco Bay Area, throughout California, and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Perform protection functions, including safe driving, security advances, executive safety/security, proactive intelligence collection on site/office security, and residential security/safety evaluations.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with law enforcement agencies at the local, state, and federal levels; coordinate activities and maintain open communication with Corporate Security Management and other business units.
  • Conduct threat investigations related to the executive security program.
  • Maintain and enhance proficiency in all aspects of the executive security program, including secure driving techniques, security advances, protection, de-escalation tactics, firearms proficiency, medical training, site security assessments, and the latest security technologies.
  • Remain available for executive security 24/7, including immediate response to the security/safety needs of the executive and their family members.
  • Participate in planning and coordinating travel (business or pleasure) for the executive and their family, providing security recommendations and mitigations.
  • Travel outside the San Francisco Bay Area, throughout California, and internationally, comprising at least 50% of the time.
  • Work effectively within a team environment to support coordinated security efforts and foster collaborative problem-solving.
  • Complete related staff assignments, research projects, presentations, event security, and security vulnerability assessments and plans.
  • Assist in planning major events involving executives from a security perspective.
  • Demonstrate ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Security Supervisor, Manager, and Director.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 5 years of prior law enforcement or private security experience conducting executive protection
  • Valid LEOSA/HR218 certification
  • CA Class C License or equivalent

Desired:

  • 7 years of prior law enforcement or private security experience conducting executive protection
  • BA/BS degree in Criminology, Police Science, or Criminal Justice Administration
  • Executive protection experience gained through corporate security, law enforcement, or military service
  • Executive Protection Accreditation from a local, state, or national school
  • Corporate/private family office executive protection experience

Pay

PG&E provides the hourly range for this position at the time of posting. The actual hourly rate will be based on factors such as internal equity, skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The range for this role in the Bay Area is:

  • Minimum: $52.40 per hour
  • Midpoint: $68.26 per hour
  • Maximum: $84.13 per hour

This position is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
