Personal Injury Paralegal (Premises)
About the role
This role involves assisting attorneys in preparing and managing personal injury cases, particularly those involving premises liability. The Personal Injury Paralegal (Premises) will handle case files, communicate with clients and witnesses, conduct legal research, draft legal documents, coordinate with medical providers, schedule depositions, hearings, and meetings, and ensure compliance with legal deadlines and court requirements.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage personal injury cases, especially those involving premises liability
- Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties to gather information and provide case updates
- Conduct legal research and draft correspondence, pleadings, and other legal documents
- Coordinate with medical providers to obtain and review medical records and bills
- Absorb and organize exhibits and trial documents for cases
- Schedule depositions, hearings, and meetings as needed
- Ensure compliance with legal deadlines and court requirements
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as a personal injury paralegal, ideally with exposure to premises liability
- Strong understanding of NYS and NYC statutes, court rules, and legal procedures
- NYS Notary Public license (or willingness to obtain one)
- Bilingual in Spanish is a strong preference
- Familiarity with SmartAdvocate is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with clients and legal professionals
- A detail-oriented approach to ensure accuracy in documentation and case management
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fully onsite position
