About the role
This position provides coverage in short-term, surge, and on-demand situations resulting from military needs such as post-deployment events or to cover existing assignments for counselors who are absent. Primary responsibilities include providing personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one counseling, consultations, briefings, and presentations
- Develop and distribute financial materials
- Coordinate and promote financial management classes and workshops
- Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars
- Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication
- Manage duty-to-warn situations according to DoD protocol
- Communicate with leadership and participate in supervision and training
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required, or an associate degree plus 4 years' experience, or a high school diploma plus 6 years' experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree
- U.S. citizenship and fluency in English required
- If required by the contract, must be bilingual in English and Spanish
- Must be able to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation
- Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process
- Must hold one of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC)
- Must have over a thousand hours of financial counseling experience
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Driver's license, valid in state, preferred
- One of the following certifications preferred: AFC, CFP, ChFC
Skills
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Knowledge of military lifecycle stages
- Proficiency in virtual counseling and electronic communication methods

Pay
Salary range: $50,225 - $75,335
