About the role

This position provides coverage in short-term, surge, and on-demand situations resulting from military needs such as post-deployment events or to cover existing assignments for counselors who are absent. Primary responsibilities include providing personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one counseling, consultations, briefings, and presentations
  • Develop and distribute financial materials
  • Coordinate and promote financial management classes and workshops
  • Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars
  • Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication
  • Manage duty-to-warn situations according to DoD protocol
  • Communicate with leadership and participate in supervision and training

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, or an associate degree plus 4 years' experience, or a high school diploma plus 6 years' experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree
  • U.S. citizenship and fluency in English required
  • If required by the contract, must be bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Must be able to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation
  • Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process
  • Must hold one of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC)
  • Must have over a thousand hours of financial counseling experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Driver's license, valid in state, preferred
  • One of the following certifications preferred: AFC, CFP, ChFC

Skills

  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Knowledge of military lifecycle stages
  • Proficiency in virtual counseling and electronic communication methods

Pay

Salary range: $50,225 - $75,335
