About the role

This position provides personal financial services at assigned military installations, offering the full breadth of personal financial counseling to military service members and their families. Services include one-on-one counseling, consultations with commanders or other providers, briefings, presentations, and referrals to external resources.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families.
  • Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences.
  • Develop and distribute informational financial materials to service members and families.
  • Coordinate, publicize, and deliver Personal Financial Management classes/workshops on topics across the military lifecycle, such as arrival at first duty station, pre- and post-deployment, and personal/career events outlined in DoDI 1322.34.
  • Respond to requests for age-appropriate financial classes or seminars.
  • Utilize virtual counseling or electronic communication modes (e.g., web-based, secure online chat, video-based communications, or secure video teleconference) as authorized by the OSD FINRED Program office.
  • Manage "duty to warn" situations according to Department of Defense (DoD) protocol.
  • Communicate with leadership and participate in regular individual and group supervision, sharing trends and issues from assigned installations.
  • Participate in in-services, training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, aligned with the intent of the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Alternatives: Associate degree plus 4 years of relevant experience, or high school diploma plus 6 years of relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and fluent in English. Bilingual in English and Spanish may be required by contract.
  • Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
  • Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
  • Must hold one of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
  • Valid driver’s license.

Pay

Salary range: $58,440 – $93,500. Actual pay will be adjusted based on skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position may also be eligible for short-term incentives.
