This position provides personal financial services at assigned military installations.
Responsibilities
- Deliver the full breadth of personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families, including:
- One-on-one counseling
- Consultation with commanders, providers, or staff
- Conducting briefings and presentations
- Providing referral resources outside of counseling sessions
- Work closely with installation and military branch Points of Contact (POC) to ensure the program remains within scope and meets installation needs.
- Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families.
- Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences.
- Develop and distribute informational financial materials to service members and families.
- Coordinate, publicize, and provide a wide variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops on topics across the military lifecycle, such as:
- Arrival at first duty station
- Pre- and post-deployment
- Personal and career events outlined in DoDI 1322.34
- Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars.
- Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication (e.g., web-based, secure online chat, video-based communications, or secure video teleconference) as authorized by the OSD FINRED Program office.
- Manage duty-to-warn situations according to Department of Defense (DoD) protocol.
- Communicate with leadership and participate in regular individual and group supervision, sharing trends and issues at assigned installations.
- Participate in regular in-services/training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, aligned with the intent of this role.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required. Alternatives:
- Associate degree plus 4 years of relevant experience
- High school diploma plus 6 years of relevant experience
- 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and fluent in English.
- If required by the contract, must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
- Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
- Must hold one of the following certifications:
- Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC)
- Certified Financial Planner (CFP)
- Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC)
- Valid driver’s license.
Pay
Salary range: $58,440 – $93,500. Actual pay will be adjusted based on skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position may also be eligible for short-term incentives.
