Personal Financial Counselor - Rio Rancho, NM

About the role

This position provides personal financial services at assigned military installations. It includes counseling and management services to military service members and their families.

Responsibilities

  • One-on-one counseling and consultation with a commander or other providers
  • Conducting briefings and presentations
  • Providing referral resources to participants outside counseling sessions
  • Closely working with installation and military branch Points of Contact to ensure program scope and needs alignment
  • Assisting service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences
  • Making available informational financial materials to service members and families
  • Coordinating and publicizing a wide variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops
  • Responding to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars
  • Utilizing virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication as needed
  • Managing duty to warn situations according to DoD protocol
  • Communicating with leadership and participating in regular supervision and training
  • Participating in in-services/training and other contract activities as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, or an associate degree plus 4 years' experience, or a high school diploma plus 6 years' experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree
  • 3+ years of financial counseling experience
  • U.S. citizenship and fluency in English
  • If required by the contract, bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Able to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation
  • Must have one of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC)

Pay

The salary range for this position is $58,440 to $93,500 annually, with actual pay adjusted based on individual qualifications and job-related factors.

The position is "On-Site" at the Rio Rancho location.
