Personal Financial Counselor - Jackson TN

About the role

This position provides personal financial services at assigned military installations. It includes counseling and management services, coordinating workshops, and responding to requests for classes or seminars.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one counseling and consultations to military service members and their families.
• Conduct briefings and presentations on various financial topics relevant to the military lifecycle.
• Develop and distribute informational financial materials to service members and families.
• Manage duty-to-warn situations according to DoD protocol.
• Communicate with leadership and participate in supervision and training sessions.
• Coordinate and publicize a wide range of personal financial management classes and workshops.
• Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars.
• Utilize virtual counseling and other electronic modes of communication as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required, or an associate degree plus 4 years' experience, or a high school diploma plus 6 years' experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
• 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
• U.S. citizenship and fluency in English.
• If required by the contract, must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
• One of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.

Skills

• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Knowledge of financial planning and counseling principles.
• Experience with virtual counseling and electronic communication methods.
