About the role
This position provides personal financial services at assigned military installations, delivering the full breadth of personal financial counseling to service members and their families.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one financial counseling, consultation with commanders or other providers/staff, briefings and presentations, and referral resources
- Work closely with installation and military branch Points of Contact (POC) to ensure program remains within scope and meets installation needs
- Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences
- Develop and make available informational financial materials to service members and families
- Coordinate, publicize, and provide Personal Financial Management classes/workshops across the military lifecycle (e.g., arrival at first duty station, pre- and post-deployment, personal and career events per DoDI 1322.34)
- Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars
- Utilize virtual counseling and electronic communication modes (web-based, secure online chat, video-based communications, secure video teleconference) as authorized by OSD FINRED Program office
- Manage duty to warn situations according to DoD protocol
- Communicate with leadership and participate in regular individual and group supervision, sharing information on trends and issues at assigned installations
- Participate in in-services/training, quality improvement committees, and other contract activities as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required (associate degree + 4 years' experience or high school diploma + 6 years' experience may be considered in lieu)
- 3+ years of financial counseling experience
- U.S. citizen and fluent in English; bilingual in English and Spanish if required by contract
- Ability to obtain favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation
- Must pass Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process
- Must hold one of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC)
Pay
Salary range: $58,440 – $93,500 (actual pay adjusted based on skills, experience, education, and location; position may be eligible for short-term incentives).
