Personal Financial Counselor, Assignment Ready Counselor, PFC, Nevada
About the role
This position will provide coverage in short-term, surge and on-demand situations resulting from military needs such as post-deployment events or to cover existing assignments for counselors who are absent. Primary responsibilities include providing personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families.
Responsibilities
- Full breadth of personal financial counseling services, including one-on-one counseling, consultations, briefings, and presentations.
- Works closely with installation and military branch Points of Contact (POC) to ensure program scope and needs are met.
- Assists service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences.
- Makes available informational financial materials to service members and families.
- Coordinates and provides a variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops, covering topics relevant to the military lifecycle.
- Responds to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars.
- Utilizes virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication, such as web-based, secure online chat, or video-based communications.
- Manages duty-to-warn situations according to DoD protocol.
- Communicates with leadership and participates in regular supervision and training.
- Participates in in-services/training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required, or an associate degree plus 4 years' experience, or a high school diploma plus 6 years' experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
- 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
- U.S. citizenship and fluency in English.
- If required by the contract, must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
- Passes the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
- One of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Education preferred.
- Driver License, Valid In State preferred.
- License and Certifications: AFC, CFP, ChFC, DL preferred.

Possesses the skills to effectively utilize virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication, such as web-based, secure online chat, or video-based communications.

Pay
Salary Range: $58,440 - $93,500
