Primary Responsibilities
- Provide coverage in short-term, surge and on-demand situations resulting from military needs.
- Offer full breadth of personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families at military installations.
- Address financial services through one-on-one counseling, consultations, briefings, and presentations.
- Work closely with installation and military branch Points of Contact to ensure program scope and needs alignment.
- Directly provide personal financial counseling and management services to service members and families.
- Absorb service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.
- Develop and make available informational financial materials to service members and families.
- Coordinate, publicize, and provide a variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops.
- Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars.
- Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication as needed.
- Manage duty to warn situations according to DoD protocol.
- Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision and training.
- Participate in in-services/training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required, or an associate degree plus 4 years' experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree, or a high school diploma plus 6 years' experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
- 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
- U.S. citizenship and fluency in English.
- If required by the contract, bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
- Pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
- One of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Financial Counseling work experience preferred.
Skills
- Effective utilization of virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication.
- Ability to communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision and training.
- Knowledge of DoD protocols and regulations.
