This position provides coverage in short-term, surge, and on-demand situations to meet Military needs, such as post-deployment events or to cover absences of existing counselors.
Responsibilities
- Deliver the full breadth of personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families at military installations.
- Provide one-on-one counseling, consultations with commanders or other providers, briefings, presentations, and referral resources.
- Work closely with installation and military branch Points of Contact (POC) to ensure the program meets installation needs.
- Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences.
- Develop and distribute informational financial materials to service members and families.
- Coordinate, publicize, and provide Personal Financial Management classes/workshops on topics across the military lifecycle (e.g., first duty station, pre- and post-deployment, personal and career events).
- Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars.
- Utilize virtual counseling or electronic communication modes (e.g., web-based, secure online chat, video-based communications, secure video teleconference) as authorized.
- Manage duty-to-warn situations according to Department of Defense (DoD) protocol.
- Communicate with leadership and participate in regular individual and group supervision, sharing trends and issues from assigned installations.
- Participate in in-services, training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, aligned with the intent of this role.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required. Alternatives:
- Associate degree plus 4 years of relevant experience.
- High school diploma plus 6 years of relevant experience.
- 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
- U.S. citizenship and fluent English required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) may be required by contract.
- Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
- Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
- One of the following certifications required:
- Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC)
- Certified Financial Planner (CFP)
- Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC)
- Valid driver’s license.
Pay
Salary range: $58,440 – $93,500. Actual pay will be adjusted based on skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position may be eligible for short-term incentives.
