PERSONAL CHEFS: OPEN CALL

The Cupboard is a women-led meal delivery and personal chef service which aims to execute seasonal and high-quality meals for families in San Francisco, Marin, and South Bay. We source organic ingredients from local and sustainable purveyors. Most of our clients have a variety of dietary preferences and allergens, including paleo, vegetarian, dairy-free, gluten-free, and nut-free. We accommodate these needs with a detail-oriented team.

About the role

We are looking for chefs passionate about wholesome, local, and clean ingredients to join our personal chef team. This is an independent contractor role where you can dictate how many clients you take on, typically starting with one and working up to three, which we consider full-time. Chefs prepare meals for dedicated clients each week, either in the client’s home or offsite with drop-off. We pair clients and chefs based on location, dietary needs, and chef experience.

Chefs are responsible for menu planning, communicating with the client, gathering ingredients, and executing the menu. Most clients stay with us for years, fostering special relationships between chefs and their clients.

Responsibilities

• Prepare weekly meals for dedicated clients in their homes or offsite with drop-off
• Plan menus tailored to clients' dietary needs and preferences
• Communicate clearly and professionally with clients
• Source and gather high-quality, organic ingredients from local purveyors
• Adapt to various dietary restrictions (e.g., paleo, gluten-free, vegan, nut-free)
• Manage time effectively and execute tasks in a timely manner

Requirements

• Culinary training with at least 5 years of professional cooking experience, ideally in both restaurants and private settings
• Experience accommodating various diets (paleo, gluten-free, vegan, etc.)
• Independent, self-motivated, and comfortable working solo
• Strong time management and communication skills
• Flexible, solution-oriented, and adaptable to different home environments
• Available on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays (at least 2 of these days)
• Located in the Peninsula area (e.g., Menlo Park, Atherton) or willing to commute
• Access to a car for transportation to clients' homes

Pay

Hourly rate of $20/hour.
